Background

Nepal Rural Development Society Centre (NRDSC) is a non- profit, non- governmental organization registered with District Administration Office Morang on 3 rd Kartik 2050 BS. It is also registered with Social Welfare Council. It is stationed in College Road, Biratnagr -9 Morang as Central Office. It is providing free physiotherapy services, day rest home as Brahmagyani Bishrmalaya to senior citizens from its own building located in Biratnagr -9 College Road. NRDSC is providing a platform to senior citizens in its office where they can share their lifelong experiences, perform spiritual signing and dancing (Bhajan Sankirtan), meditation, general health check- up, alongwith physiotherapy services as well. It is also running another senior citizens’ day service centre at Adarshtole in Budhiganga Rural Municipality Ward No 3, Morang since 2076 BS. The organization has long experience in running microfinance sercices to deprived people, especially the women in Morang and Sunsari districts of Nepal. Besides, it was also engaged in women empowerment, skill development, informal education, advocacy on Right to Information, entrepreneurship development, health and sanitation, leadership development and like. All these interventions were targeted to deprived sector people specially the women, Dalits and unemployed youths and like. The organization is also frequently engaged in consultancy works in said areas as well. Currently, the organization is more focused on managing day care centres for senior citizens. It is advocating on setting right policies, regulations and their proper enforcement to protect dignified life of senior citizens. The organization is also advocating this campaign through local, provincial and national level networks, in many cases, it is leading on such networks. The organization is continuing its services in transferming soci-economic status of deprived people. It is also providing consultancy services to local, provincial and central government bodies in implementing national and international programs targeted to people from bottom of the pyramid. Microfinance services was the most leading program in the past and it was getting successful everyday and it grew in large scale and raised concern in common public as well. Keeping this in mind, Nerude Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was incorporated in 2063 BS taking license from Nepal Rastra Bank (the central bank of Nepal). It was the first microfinance institution in eastern Nepal from private sector. NRDSC handed over its microfinance business to newly established Nerude Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd from 1st Aashad 2064 BS.   (In Nepali)
